JEMSHI master programme

The JEMSHI Master Programme is a 2-year programme for a total of 120 ECTS credits. The Programme courses are taught in English at all partner institutions.

The educational aim of the Programme is to prepare students to become innovative, adaptable, and culturally aware leaders in the field of Speech-Language and Hearing Sciences. Graduates of the programme have the skills to design and implement evidence-based solutions to complex challenges, develop and manage customer-oriented services, conduct applied research, provide counselling and advocacy services, and effectively communicate and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams. They also possess strong technological competence and a thorough understanding of ethical and legal considerations.

Admission criteria

Bachelor's degree in Speech-Language Therapy, or Audiology, or other related areas. Other Bachelor's degrees in areas considered adequate to the master programme.

Location

1^st semester in Portugal (IPP)
2^nd semester in Georgia (ISU)
3^rd semester in Slovenia (UM)
4^th semester in one HEI in the consortium (it may include other countries)

Objectives

This Master aims to prepare professionals in speech, language, and hearing sciences to be innovative, communicative, and adaptable in addressing current and future challenges in the field, while also prioritizing ethical and legal considerations and the needs of specific populations.

Competences

After completing the programme, the students will be able to:

1. Analyse, design, and implement innovative solutions to complex professional challenges in speech, language, and hearing sciences, applying evidence-based research, critical thinking, and person and family-based practices.

2. Provide counselling and advocacy services to individuals of all ages and families affected by communication disorders, with a thorough understanding of ethical and legal considerations related to the field of speech-language and hearing sciences, including confidentiality, informed consent, and licensure requirements.

3. Communicate effectively and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and manage customer-oriented services that meet the needs of specific populations, responding to societal challenges.

4. Demonstrate leadership, adaptability, and flexibility in leading and managing projects and teams with an innovative mindset, contributing to the strategic development of the organization in the field of speech, language, and hearing sciences.

5. Demonstrate cultural awareness and global citizenship by working effectively with people from different cultures and backgrounds and understanding cultural differences.

6. Demonstrate technological competence, including proficiency in using various software applications and tools.

7. Design and conduct applied research to support innovation and the validity and reliability of products and services in the evaluation, prevention, (re)habilitation, and optimization of speech, language, and hearing.
